Traditions (With a Recipe)

Published by hudsonsmommy07 at 10:11 pm under parenting Edit This

I am in a fellowship group at my church that focuses on family traditions.  One of the traditions that was mentioned most at our first meeting was the tradition of warm baked cookies.  I absolutely love making (and eating) homemade chocolate chip cookies.  Now, for those of you who think you can’t bake, here is a recipe that no one can mess up!

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

2 1/4 c. all purpose flour (sifted)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c.(2 sticks) butter
3/4 c.granulated sugar
3/4 c.packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 c.(12oz.) pkg. semisweet chocolate morsels

PREHEAT oven to 375 degrees F.COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in larger bowl and mix until creamy.

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels.

Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to stand for 2 minutes.

Remove to wire racks to cool completely.

This is the recipe I always use and they’ve always been delicious.  One of my favorite websites to get easy recipes from is www.cooks.com.  The great thing about this website is you can search a specific recipe name but it gives you tons and tons of different recipes for the same dish.  You can chose the one that looks the easiest.  In the case of my cookies, I really wanted cookies one night so I searched until I found a recipe that called for ingredients that I already had in my cabinets instead of having to go to the store!  I encourage you to check out this site; especially if you are just learning to cook or even if you’ve been cooking for years but would like a particular recipe for something.

Do any of you have any traditions concerning cookies?  If so, what is your tradition?  Share the recipe with us!  Also, the holidays are just around the corner.  Almost every family has holiday traditions.  I would love to hear about your holiday traditions!!!
