I’m Baaaacccckkk!!!
Hello everyone! Sorry to those of you who thought I fell of the face of the earth! I haven’t blogged in several days for several reasons: my entire family has been sick (we are finally better), I was waiting to make sure I was going to get paid for doing this :), and I’ve been fall cleaning. In the last week, I’ve cleaned my entire house from top to bottom including closets.
When I cleaned out my closets, I put everything on Freecycle. Freecycle is a website that you can go to and put anything that you would like to give away on there. You get emails from people wanting it and then they come and take it off your hands. I don’t like throwing things away but I sure do like to give away my junk! My philosophy is, it can’t go in the trash but it sure can’t stay here!
Ok, lately in my life the big issue is discipline for my 11 month old, strong willed child! He has gotten to the point where he is absolutley horrible when we go out to eat. Everyone in the restaurant hates me and I am reminded of how much I love eating at home where no one gives me dirty looks when my son screams for no apparent reason.
At home when he yells, he goes to bed. At home when he spits food everywhere (which he does a lot lately), he goes to bed. When we are eating out the only recourse I have is to beg him to stop! I am afraid to spank in public for fear that DSS will be called, there is no bed for him to go to, and begging simply does not work!!! As much as I love for someone else to cook my food and bring it to my table, it just isn’t worth it anymore. Eating out is no longer a good experience.
Discipline works well at home where we can spank and do time out but how do I discipline an 11 month old in public who seems to know that he can basically get away with murder when we’re in public? I know it’s all for attention (which he always gets plenty of) because he does fine when we’re eating home alone but even if someone comes over, he yells the same way he does when we are in public. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do about this? By the way, if you’re going to suggest that I don’t spank, don’t waste your time because we do believe in spanking- not abusing but spanking!

Well with Alannah if she acts out in public i spank her on her butt. She normally doesn’t need to be spanked, but the times she does i do. If i’m not consistent with discipline then she will know that she can get away with stuff when in public. If she spits out food i warn her not too and if she continues then i smack her mouth lightly to get her attention, and it does.
